My name is Sagan Randall, and I’m a student at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I’m in the class of 2029, studying mechanical engineering. I’m also very passionate about photojournalism; I have done freelance photography for Boulder Weekly and KCEC, and currently serve as the visuals editor for the CU Independent. Having grown up in Boulder, I’m a proud Coloradan.
Having started at the CU Independent as a staff photographer in the fall of 2025, I now serve as the Visuals Editor for the paper. I’ve learned how write articles, produce my own work, and edit others’ as well. I’ve also had the pleasure of discussing my experiences with the CUI on local radio station KGNU in a partnership with CU student journalism. A full list of my photography, writing, and reporting can be found at cuindependent.org.
Over the summer of 2025, I did freelance photography for Boulder Weekly. I took photos capturing scenes of the memorial following the Pearl Street firebombing and spoke with attendees. A number of my photos were featured in print as well as online.
I covered a Denver protest in the summer of 2025 for KCEC as a freelance photographer. A number of my photos appeared in their evening broadcast.
